Celebrating Homeownership
in Stanton, CA

On Saturday, June 11th, we welcomed families into their new Habitat OC homes during our Stanton Dedication Day.

Experience the celebration

Watch the dream of affordable homeownership become a reality

Joined by volunteers, sponsors and community members, each family received the key and mortgage to their new Habitat OC home at this celebration – marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

Get To Know Our Homeowners

Meet Our Stanton Families

“We’re extremely excited. It’s been a long journey for us to find a place, and then the market really ran out of our reach.”

The Tran Vu Family

For two years, the Tran Vu family had been sharing a one-bedroom home with other family members. Having a home of their own is a welcome change for this young family.

They feel most grateful knowing that not only can their daughter now have her own room and have more space to play around the home, but without the stress of searching for a place of their own any longer, they can concentrate on other things important to them.

The Nguyens have been dreaming about homeownership since 2015, when their son was born.

The Nguyen Family

As the Nguyen family began to save in hopes of buying a home of their own, they quickly realized that it would never be enough.

With their aging parents living here in Orange County, staying near their son’s grandparents was important to them. When the opportunity to own a home in Stanton came up, the Nguyens took a chance with Habitat OC.

"It feels like a dream. We’re so grateful. We’re very happy to have our own space."

The Towobola Family

The Towobola family moved to the US last year. With a brand new baby boy and an active 2-year-old daughter, the family’s living arrangement became congested and didn’t provide adequate privacy or storage. Getting more space felt impossible due to the expensive housing market.

With their dream of homeownership becoming a reality, the Towobolas look forward to a celebratory family meal in their new home.

“I don’t even believe I am the owner of this house. It’s unbelievable… It’s the American dream. It’s the biggest dream to own a home.”

The Naushed Family

As a family of four living in a one-bedroom apartment, the Nashaud family knew they needed more space.

Before, the Nashauds didn’t think homeownership would ever be a reality for them; however, now they believe anything is possible. Having a permanent home will bring peace of mind to their family, knowing that they can now contribute to their own future equity rather than paying rent.

"The work doesn’t stop here. We’re really grateful to everyone who took part in this project. God bless you all. The biggest thing is to pay it forward.”

The Torres Family

As a family of four with two sons, their two-bedroom apartment was no longer meeting their needs.

More than anything, the Torreses feel grateful and excited knowing that each other their two boys will have the opportunity to have their very own space in their very own home – something Mr. Torres himself didn’t have growing up.

Owning a home of their own will give the Patels the opportunity to teach their kids about the pride that comes with ownership.

The Patel Family

One day while driving through Stanton, the Patel Family happened to drive past the Habitat OC construction site. It was then that they began to wonder if this could be the answer to their prayers.

With their 7-year-old son and their 2-year-old daughter rounding out their young family, the Patels are eager at the thought of how much space a new home will provide. They are excited for this next chapter

THANK YOU TO THE CITY OF STANTON, CA

"It Is An Honor To Welcome These Six New Families To Our Community."

- David Shawver, Mayor of Stanton

We are so grateful for this transformative partnership with the City of Stanton, whose commitment to safe and affordable housing enhances the quality of life of their residents. Their support provided us with the land needed to build six moderate-income homes in the heart of their beautiful city.

THANK YOU

Automobile Club of Southern California

For the past four years, Automobile Club of Southern California and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County have partnered together to make dreams come true by providing families with affordable housing and building neighborhoods where families can grown and flourish.

The Automobile Club is a founding member of our Neighborhood Builder program, which they provide funds, support, and volunteers to each development we build. At our  Stanton Development, their volunteers have been a wonderful presence on site, helping us build, clean and plant trees in preparation for Dedication Day and move-in.

Automobile Club of Southern California also surprised our new homeowners with a generous gift waiting for them in their garages. When the garage doors opened, the families were shocked to find a new car parked inside.
