"They made it so easy!" Karin Bremer

"The kitchen was stripped in less than a day." Robert & Katherine Huber
I was referred to Habitat for Humanity's deconstruction department from a friend who also had Habitat OC DeConstruct his home before a major remodel. Within a few days of my call, three very capable and experienced volunteers came to the house and did a neat, quick and thorough job. They removed  all appliances, kitchen cabinets, light fixtures, and interior doors as well as bathroom fixtures, faucets and any other usable items. They came back later to remove all the exterior windows and doors, paving tiles and stones from the walkway and yard. They gave me a detailed receipt as soon as they were done. It was a win-win situation. I am so happy to have been able to contribute to Habitat for Humanity. They made it so easy and did all the deconstruction work for me. I feel good that someone else could use the items that were in good and re-usable condition.
We discovered Habitat's deconstruction service while watching a kitchen renovation project on HGTV. It seemed like a great solution to our own project. Not only could I get the work done by trained professionals, but our old cabinets and appliances would be given new life rather than ending up in a landfill. The icing on the cake was that we'd get a nice tax write-off! The guys were excellent. They responded quickly by email to every communication. They were available to start work on very short notice. They were prompt, efficient, friendly, and helpful. The kitchen was stripped to the bare walls in less than a day, all the non-recyclable building materials were placed in a dumpster at the curb, and the kitchen was neat and clean when they left. I have been telling everyone who asks about my project what a great service this is. Everyone should use it.

"The environment wins..." Pat, Fountain Valley
DeNoone kitchen before demolition
I read about this service in the Orange County Business Journal and was really excited to find a way to remodel our kitchen without everything going into the landfill! Habitat OC receives items that can be sold in their ReStore, the environment wins as practically nothing goes into a landfill, and the homeowner gets a tax-deduction instead of a bill for demolition. Martin is very professional: he responds in a timely manner and does everything he says he will. On the appointed day, he and his crew arrived on-time, removed the cabinets and appliances in an efficient manner and left the area as clean as possible. It is very helpful that he has such an extensive background in construction! I highly recommend this service to anyone who is considering any type of remodel.

Words cannot express how enjoyable it was to work with you and your team with the deconstruction of our home. All of the Habitat for Humanity employees were punctual, professional, highly skilled and friendly. As the CEO of a $600 million company that radically focuses on providing raving fan service and making a difference in the lives of our 50,000 members, it was abundantly clear that Habitat has an identical focus. My wife, Sheryl, was also incredibly impressed. Thanks for everything you do for others and for the Olympian-level work with the deconstruction of our home!

In a story about how owner/designer Andy Wolf completed a major remodel in Laguna Beach:  "The house took a year to plan and 2 1/2 more years to build. The Laguna Beach Design Review Board visited half a dozen times before Wolf finished transforming the ramshackle pad into a seaside retreat. The remodeling was so extensive that Wolf called in Habitat for Humanity to salvage doors windows, old appliances and anything else the organization wanted for its resale shop. 'They called to thank me and told me they had taken the trees too,' Wolf says. 'Trees? I thought, Oh my God! They went to the wrong house. Turns out it was the right house. The backyard was so overgrown with brush, I didn't realize there were trees back there." See story and photo gallery here
