Site Blessings
Barren and bleak - yet full of promise. First, we bless the land and the people who will work it. Requesting safety, productivity and complete funding, the Habitat OC community meets on the build site for a site blessing.

Framing Day
Better still - the day the first frames go up. The land has been prepped and the foundations laid, ready to support new homes. Habitat OC families get to hoist the first frames for each other's homes.

Dedication Day
Best of all - fulfillment of the promise - dedication day. Families and volunteers , now close friends, gather and celebrate completion of the homes. Now, the foundations support new lives for home owners' families. Home sponsors hand out keys, Bibles and mortgages to the Habitat OC families.

Role Models
Each of these event days is especially important to children. Since people under 16 may not work on build sites, they haven't seen all the adults working together, side by side. On these event days, kids are able to see what responsible and caring adults are willing to do for each other - even when they don't know each other. What great role models!
