Change a Life: Donate Now

On the Drawing Board: 2012-2015

Volunteers and homeowners build these homes. Cities provide their full support. Donors provide funds, materials and services. Homes will soon be underway in Santa Ana and Cypress. Be sure to check out Building Progress.

Santa Ana

The above is an example of one home being built in Santa Ana.

Development:  Santa Ana VI
Land: City of Santa Ana
Design:

Seventeen homes to be built in three phases at various locations in the city. The homes are in configurations of 3- and 4-bedrooms, each with 2.5 baths. All the homes will be designed with a 2-car attached garage. These homes will be compatible with surrounding neighborhoods and add a high quality aesthetic value to the community.

Ten of the homes will be developed and sold to moderate-income families (81%-120% of the Area Median Income, AMI.) The "income over costs" from the sale of these units will be used to develop seven homes sold to buyers with less than 81% AMI.

Energy and resource savings will be realized by the installation of:
  • On-demand hot water heating system
  • Dual pane argon gas filled Low-E vinyl windows
  • Upgraded wall and roof insulation
  • On-demand hot water recirculation system
  • Solar panel electricity generation system
  • Energy star appliances
  • Dual flush low flow toilets.
Additional green features to be incorporated in the homes include recycled sub-base aggregate concrete and asphalt for roads and driveways, construction waste reduction measures, and storm water infiltration systems to reduce the hydrocarbon run-off and recharge the groundwater aquifers.
Status: Building dates are approximately March 2012 to April 2014

Exteriors will be compatible with the surrounding neighborhood providing a high quality aesthetic value to the community.

Six of the homes will be developed and sold to Moderate Income families (81%-120% of Area Median Income, AMI.) The "income over sales" will be used to develop nine homes sold to buyers with less than 81% AMI.
