The Sojra & Anis family

Who we serve

Muhammad Sojra and his wife, Almas Anis and their three children currently live in a two bedroom apartment. Muhammad works at both a manufacturing facility and at a convenience store to make ends meet; his wife Almas, takes care of their children. The family, originally from Pakistan, is very proud of their citizenship in the United States, and has lived here for seven years.

Muhammad is concerned that the price of real estate has closed the door on his family's ability to improve their lives. The family has worked hard to save, even attempting to purchase a condominium, but prices are too far out of reach. Constantly increasing rent is a constant hardship.

The two older children, Muhammad Waqas, age 9, and Rabiah, age 7, share one bedroom and their parents and little brother, Muhammad Haris, 18 months, share the other. Muhammad and Almas are concerned that brother and sister must share a bedroom, a situation that will grow increasingly difficult with time. There is no place for the children to play outside and they are concerned that little Muhammad Haris will fall down the stairs outside their upstairs apartment. The heater in the apartment has never worked in the seven years they have lived there, and, when necessary, the oven must be used for heat. Despite Muhammad and Almas's attempts to keep the apartment vermin free, the neighbors do not make the same effort, and thus the family must deal with constant pests.

The family has set many goals for themselves: Muhammad is taking accounting classes to further his career and Almas plans to return to school when the children are a little older. They are thankful for the opportunity to purchase their own home, an achievement that will permanently end their housing worries and enable them to focus solely on moving their family forward. Welcome Sojra-Anis family!
