Habitat OC engages AmeriCorps volunteers who are:
- 18+ years old
- High School grads, GED or working on getting a GED
- Licensed to drive
- Able to work 10 1/2 months and at least 1700 total hours.

Habitat OC AmeriCorps lend a hand in Iowa
Habitat OC's AmeriCorps joined 800 other volunteers to help rebuild in flood-damaged Iowa. The AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon took place in June 2010 and included:
- Over 500 Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps members from across the nation
- Over 150 AmeriCorps VISTA members
- Nearly 360 AmeriCorps National members
- Over 30 Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps Host Site managers
- Nearly 50 Cedar Valley HFH Partner Family members
- Nearly 100 Cedar Valley HFH volunteers
- HFH affiliate staff members and volunteers from various affiliates throughout the US
- Numerous Habitat for Humanity RV Care-A-Vanner’s
- The entire Cedar Valley staff and their AmeriCorps members
- An AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps team (NCCC) from the Vinton, Iowa, campus
- Many local donors, partners and supporters of Cedar Valley HFH
- And Over 40 HFHI staff members.
Despite the rain delays, the dedicated volunteers repaired 6 homes in the Wellington Heights neighborhood through Habitat’s A Brush with Kindness program. They dried-in 11 new homes and prepared 2 other homes in Robins, IA. They helped rehabilitate 3 homes in areas directly impacted by the flood of 2008.
They had a direct impact on the lives of 23 families. They met all the goals for the 2010 Build-a-Thon.
The 2010 Habitat OC AmeriCorps exemplify the AmeriCorps motto of “Get Things Done”!
